Today is the day I say goodbye to my daily Starbucks, ,hello to my daily $25 budget. Goodbye comfortable bed in my lovely little flat, hello bug ridden beds in cockroach infested hostels. Goodbye air-conditioned taxis, hello 18 hour bus rides.
It is also the day I say goodbye 10 hour work days, hello 10 hour beach days. Goodbye 6am starts, hello whenever-you-feel-like-it starts. Goodbye to my daily routine of work, gym, eat and drink, hello to no daily routine of diving, trekking, skiing, snorkelling, dancing, surfing and generally exploring.
Goodbye Hong Kong, hello South America!

South America! Why?
This is often the reaction I hear when I tell people that I will be travelling around South America on my own for the next 8 months. Yes, South America does have more than it's fair share of problems, crime and corruption but what country doesn't? I would prefer to focus on what this incredible continent has to offer. The passionate people, the vibrant culture, and the love for music, dance, fiestas and food. Home to the Andes, the Amazon and Angel Falls. Machu Picchu, the Galapagos Islands, Iguazu Falls amoung hundreds of hidden gems and wonders of the world. The birthplace of samba, salsa, tango, caipirinhas, carnival and more importantly, Che Guevara.
So in response to everyones question... South America. Why not?!
